Beginnings at Siempre was established in 2009 to give special care to the flood of infants lost in poverty, human trafficking and the sex trade. The border crossing between San Diego and Tijuana is the single busiest border crossing in the world. Beginnings@Siempre received approval as Mexico’s first Safe Surrender Program where any mother could abandon her infant with: “No Name. No Shame. No Blame.” Beginnings was also approved to help with babies abandoned at hospitals, churches and other agencies through Mexico’s Social Service, D.I.F. Beginnings can house up to 36 infants from birth to 36 months. Over 20 infants have found “Forever” families- a name, a future, and a hope –as they’ve been adopted by families in surrounding communities.
